Softball Players of the Week: February 19
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Alabama State outfielder Casey Durham and Texas Southern pitcher Lauren Rodriguez have been honored as the Southwestern Athletic Conference’s Softball Players of the Week following their standout performances from games played February 13-18.
Hitter of the Week – Casey Durham, Alabama State

In aiding the Lady Hornets to a 3-2 record during the Black and Gold Tournament this past weekend, Durham hit .412 (7-of-13) in five games. The junior scored five runs and drove in five more while racking up a pair of extra base hits (one double, one triple).
Along the way, she posted a .474 on-base percentage and a .588 slugging percentage. She also stole two bases. Durham set a career-high in hits during a 7-2 victory against Akron on Feb. 18, going 4-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBI. She currently leads the Lady Hornets in hits (10), batting average (.455), RBI (8) and steals (7).
Pitcher of the Week – Lauren Rodriguez, Texas Southern

In her season debut for the defending champions, Rodriguez dealt five innings, allowing just three hits against Houston Baptist. Rodriguez allowed one unearned run, earning the victory during a 4-2 win for Texas Southern. Rodriguez struck out five hitters in the winning effort.
