BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - After the conclusion of the 2017 softball season, Arkansas-Pine Bluff has earned a NCAA team statistical championship.

The Lady Lions -- who set a school record for wins (20) and best Southwestern Athletic Conference Softball Tournament finish (4th) in coach Kevin Montgomery's first season in the dugout -- led the country in triples per game this season. UAPB amassed 20 triples in 44 games this season, good for a nation-best 0.45 per outing.

In all, Arkansas-Pine Bluff's total was tied for fifth-best in the country. Nine players contributed to the cause, with four players picking up multiple tallies in the stat. Leading UAPB was Ta'Lyn Moody and Kameron Graham, who each had four three-baggers on the year. Shanice Akins and Alexandra Taylor had three apiece.

UAPB is one of three SWAC teams that finished in the top-10 in triples per game. Alabama State -- which hit the second-most triples in the nation (22) -- finished fourth at 0.39 per game, and Jackson State was ninth (16 3B in 48 games).
