Texas A&M 9, Prairie View A&M 0 (F/5)

COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Prairie View A&M (20-22) fell 9-0 to No. 15 seed Texas A&M during the 2018 NCAA Division I Softball Tournament College Station Regional at Davis Diamond Friday evening.

With the loss, the Lady Panthers will face Baylor in an elimination game at 4:00 PM tomorrow on ESPN3.

After a quiet first inning for their offense, the Lady Panthers fell behind early to the Aggies (41-16), as the hosts tacked on four runs during the first inning. Tori Vidales hit a two-run homer during the frame.

Day'Zjah Pennywell broke up a no-hit bid by Texas A&M starter Samantha Show in the third inning with a single to the left side. However, the Lady Panthers were unable to parlay that into further offense, as Shelby Williams hit into a fielder's choice, and Keona Hunter lined out to end the inning.

From that point, the Aggies added a pair of runs in its half of the inning, and scored thrice more in the fourth inning.

Crystal Castillo was assessed the loss for PVAMU, allowing eight hits and six runs during 3.0 innings of work. Vannessa Castro allowed three runs on four hits in an inning of relief work.

Five Aggie players collected two hits, led by Vidales, Kaitlyn Aldernik and Sarah Hudek who each drove in two runs. Show got the win, fanning two in a complete-game effort.
