Houston 2, Texas Southern 0

HOUSTON - Texas Southern was held to one hit during a 2-0 loss to Houston Wednesday afternoon.

Jasmin Fulmore took the loss, allowing two runs on seven hits in 5.1 innings.

Neither side got much going until the sixth inning, where Houston's Sarah Queen smacked a solo home run and Tierrah Williams added a RBI single. With Texas Southern unable to figure out Houston starter Savannah Heebner, who fanned 12 hitters, the Lady Tigers were unable to answer offensively.

Sierra Valdez had the lone hit for TSU.

Stephen F. Austin 9, Prairie View A&M 2

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Prairie View A&M dropped a 9-2 road tilt at Stephen F. Austin Wednesday afternoon.

After Prairie View got on the board first when Shelby Williams scored during an error, SFA responded with two runs in its half of the inning. Prairie View A&M tied things up as Laurisa Hernandez (2-for-3) belted a RBI double in the third inning to score Daneisha Hinton.

However, Margarita Corona hit a solo home run in the bottom of the frame, and the Ladyjacks tacked on three runs in the fourth inning, ultimately pulling away.

Vannessa Castro took the loss, allowing four hits and three runs in 3.0 innings.

Alabama A&M 11, Robert Morris 1 (F/5)

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - Alabama A&M swept through Robert Morris in double-header action Wednesday afternoon, winning 7-1 in game one and 11-1 in game two.

Down 1-0 after the top of the first, Alabama A&M stormed ahead for good with a five-spot in the bottom of the first, as Tiana Sanders and Kia Lang each had RBI singles to spark the rally.

That was all the run support AAMU's Lauren Hayden needed, as she fanned nine and allowed four hits in the complete game win. Alabama A&M added two insurance runs late to seal it.

T. Sanders was 3-for-3 with two runs scored and three RBI, including a two-run homer in the second.

In game two, Alabama A&M roughed up Robert Morris' pitching, scoring 11 runs over the first three innings -- including a six-run spurt in the third inning. Rachel Sanders picked up the win, striking out eight in the five-inning affair.

T. Sanders was 2-for-3 with three runs scored and two RBI in the second game.

Samford 10, Alabama State 6
Samford 9, Alabama State 0

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -  Alabama State fell in double-header action at Samford Wednesday afternoon, losing 10-6 in game one and 9-0 in game two.

In the first contest, Alabama State started quickly as Kaylee Davis scored on an error and Hailey Walker slapped a RBI double to right center to bring home Charlene Castro. Samford responded with a three-run first inning. The sides traded runs in the second inning but Samford's Whitney Hinton -- who had homered in the second inning -- put a two-run shot over the left field wall as part of a three-run inning for the Lady Bulldogs.

Hinton (4-for-4, 6 RBI) smacked her third round-tripper of the game -- this one of the three-run variety -- in the fifth inning. Walker (3-for-4, 3 RBI) hit a two-run double as the Lady Hornets plated three runs in their last at-bat, but the deficit was too much to overcome.

Alabama State managed just six hits in the second game, where the Lady Hornets fell behind 5-0 after coming up empty on a fourth-inning chance. Samford forced the mercy rule in the fifth thanks to a four-run burst capped by a three-run homer from Madison Couch.
