Soccer Players of the Week: September 18
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Laadi Issaka of Mississippi Valley State, Kendall Hamilton of Howard and Gianna Guyot from Alabama State have been named the Southwestern Athletic Conference soccer players of the week for their performances over the fourth week of the regular season.
Offensive Player of the Week
Laadi Issaka - Mississippi Valley State
M I 5-8 I Sr. I Bolga, Ghana
Issaka scored a hat trick and added an assist for seven points in the Devilettes 5-0 shutout over Milsaps College on Sunday. Issaka has eight points so far this season, which leads the conference.
Defensive Player of the Week
Kendall Hamilton - Howard
D I 5-9 I Jr. I Raleigh, N.C.
Hamilton played all 90 minutes in Howard's 1-0 loss to South Florida on Friday, holding USF to just one goal. USF was averaging 2.13 goals per contest entering Friday night's match.
Goalkeeper of the Week
Gianna Guyot - Alabama State
GK I 5-6 I Jr. I Costa Meda, Calif.
Guyot played all 90 minutes in a 4-0 loss to Lipscomb on Sunday, and although she gave up four goals on the day she also made a season-high 14 saves on the day.
