Soccer Players of the Week: September 11
BIRMIMGHAM, Ala. – Lexi Kreiger of Alabama State, Priscilla Guardado of Alcorn State and Kameran Proby of Alcorn State have been named the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) soccer players of the week for their performances over the third week of the regular season.
Offensive Player of the Week
Lexi Krieger - Alabama State
F I 5-11 I Sr. I Portland, Ore.
Krieger, who had been held scoreless through 10 shots and five matches, got on the board in a big way against Presbyterian College in a 6-1 victory. The senior recorded four shots – all on goal – and recorded her first hat trick of the season and added an assist in the victory. Krieger finished the night with seven points overall on the night for the Lady Hornets.
Defensive Player of the Week
Priscilla Guardado - Alcorn State
D I 5-4 I Sr. I San Diego, Calif.
Guardado anchored a back line that held Nicholls State, who entered Friday’s match averaging 11.75 shots per game, to just six shots. She also played the full 90 minutes in both games last week. This is the second consecutive week Guardado has been recognized as the defensive player of the week.
Goalkeeper of the Week
Kameran Proby - Alcorn State
GK I 5-7 I Fr. I McDonough, Ga.
Proby played all 90 minutes and earned her first career shutout as she saved all four shots she faced in a 1-0 victory over Nicholls State Friday. She made her first career start in Thursday’s loss to East Texas Baptist, recording six saves in another full-match effort.
