The teams in each divison with the best conference records will advance to the Toyota SWAC Football Championship on December 2 in Houston. The head-to-head meeting is the tie-breaker.

• Tie-breaker scenarios
West Division race
Grambling State holds a one-game lead over Southern with the other three teams the division (Prairie View A&M, Arkansas-Pine Bluff and Texas Southern) mathematically eliminated from contention.

It will come down to the Bayou Classic between Grambling State and Southern to determine the SWAC West Division crown on Sat. Nov. 25 at 4 p.m. on NBC Sports Network in New Orleans. This will also decide a potential tie-breaker scenario.

• East Division race
Alcorn State has clinched their fourth consecutive trip to the SWAC Football Championship game with their 59-0 victory against Mississippi Valley State last Saturday.

The Braves rank first in the conference in points per game (33.7), total yards of offense (469.5), rushing yards per game (251.4), pass defense efficiency (113.0), first downs (20.6), third down conversions (43.0), red zone defense (59.3 percent), successfull onside kicks (1-for-1).

Individually, Alcorn State features the top running back in the conference in senior De’Lance Turner, who has rushed for 1,178 yards (117.8 rushing yards per game).

The Braves thrive in the passing game as well as senior Norlando Veals leads the SWAC in receiving yards per game (89.2) and receiving yards (803).

In the kicking game, Corey McCullough leads in scoring with 85 points on the season (40 PATs, 15 field goals made).

• The SWAC Digital Network is back this week live streaming the Alcorn State at Jackson State football game. Kickoff is schedule for Saturday at 2 p.m.

Broadcasters Tyler Springs (play-by-play) and Santoria Black (color analyst) will be live on the call.

Halftime interviews are scheduled with ALCN athletic director Derek Horne and Jackson State athletic director Wheeler Brown.
