CONFERENCE NEWS & NOTES
• Airing it out: Alcorn State quarterback Lenorris Footman threw for a career-high 424 yards in a tight defeat at McNeese State in week three. The passing yardage was the third highest total mark in a single game in FCS football this season. The senior also ranks sixth in the nation in total passing yards with 877.

• Who’s a rookie? Texas Southern freshman wide receiver Darvin Kidsy ranks second in the FCS in receiving yards per game (124.5) behind only Penn’s senior wide receiver Justin Watson (134.0)

• All-purposeful players: Three SWAC players rank inside the top 10 for all-purpose yardage. Grambling State’s Martez Carter has averaged 169.0 yards per game, good for sixth, while Alcorn State’s Marquis Warford ranks seventh with 167.67 yards per game) and Prairie View A&M’s Darius Floyd is eighth with 165.00 per contest. Floyd also ranks fourth in average kick return yards (32.4).

• Just for kicks: Two SWAC special teams players also rank inside the top 15 in FCS football for punting average. Alcorn State’s Corey McCullough is seventh in the nation at 44.3 per kick while Arkansas-Pine Bluff’s Jamie Gillan is ranked 15th with an average of 43.4 per punt.

• I got him: Texas Southern senior defensive lineman Dondre Dobbins ranks seventh in solo tackles, averaging 7.5 per contest.

• Turnover bonanza: It’s been a wild ride thus far for Southern as the Jaguars have gained eight turnovers, but has also lost seven for a league-leading total of 15.
