(STATS) –  Two players from the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) were selected to the STATS Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) Preseason All-American Third Team on Monday with Jackson State defensive lineman Keontre Anderson and Southern defensive back Danny Johnson receiving top recognition for the conference.

97 players were chosen from all 13 FCS conferences with 55 schools represented.

Anderson, the 6-foot-3, 240-pound senior, had 55 tackles (31 solo), nine sacks (tied for second in the SWAC), six hurries and was the leader in the nation in tackles for a loss with a whopping 25.5 to account for 107 yards lost from opposing offenses.

Earlier this month, Anderson was also named the All-SWAC Preseason Defensive Player of the Year as well as to the All-SWAC First Team.

Johnson, the 5-foot-10, 195-pound senior, had 57 tackles (43 solo) with the second most passes defended with 16 (nine pass break ups and a nation-best seven interceptions with one returned for a touchdown).

Additionally, Johnson also made the All-SWAC Preseason First Team as a defensive back.
