Bama Beach Bash
GULF SHORES, Ala. - Chanelle Avaricio fired a final round 3-under par 69 to finish tied for second in the Bama Beach Bash held at the Gulf Shores Golf Club Sunday afternoon, as Alabama State climbed into the top five overall as a team.
Avaricio improved her score by three shots from her first two rounds as she an even-par 72 in both of those rounds, and the 69 shot Sunday was tied for the second lowest score of the round with South Alabama's Siti Shaari – the eventual winner of the tournament at 7-under 209. It was four shots behind West Florida's Paloma Vaccaro who shot a final round 65 to shoot up the leaderboard and finished tied for second with Avaricio and Julie Hovland of South Alabama at 3-under par 213.
Shania Jones finished tied for 22nd overall with a final round 76, improving her score from her first and second round 79 to finish the tournament with a 18-over 234. She finished seven shots ahead of her teammate, Nia Station, who finished 35th overall with a final round 2-over 74 – improving her score by eight shots from round two to round three.
Madison DeRousse finished tied for 37th with a final round 77, while Jade Sanders finished 48th overall with a final round 80.
The Lady Hornets climbed two spots to finish in the top five with a final round 296, improving their score by 20 strokes from round two to round three. The Lady Hornets finished with a total of 932, just two shots behind West Florida (930) for fourth overall. South Alabama won the tournament with a tournament record 856 in 54 holes.
Alabama State returns to action April 6 at the Murray State Invitational, hosted by Murray State.

Prairie View A&M
CYPRESS, Texas – The Prairie View A&M women's golf team had a tough outing in the 54-hole Houston Baptist Husky Intercollegiate Tournament, held at Blackhorse Country Club.
The Lady Panthers did improve in each round of the tournament, from 357 to 348 to 347 on the par 72 6,247-yard track.
Jayla McRae's 249 and Aubrianna Jordan's 257 led the Lady Panthers, as both players shot all three rounds in the 80s.
Prairie View A&M returns to action April 9-10 at the Lamar Spring Invitational in Beaumont, Texas.
