Hornets Grab Weekly Honors
The Alabama State men's and women's cross country teams have earned SWAC weekly honors.
On the women's side, senior Kesia Derilus has been named Runner of the Week, for week seven, after competing in the Crimson Classic (Tuscalossa, Ala.). The 25 team meet, held last weekend, marks the highest level of competition the Alabama State women have faced this season. Derilus grabbed 36 points for her 39th place finish. She completed the 5k event with a time of 18:45.78, leading the Hornets to a 16th place finish.
Also from the Hornets cross country team, senior Charles Flewellen earned Runner of the Week, after making his first appearance of the season at the Coach "O" Invitational (Troy, Ala.). Flewellen finished the 8k with a time of 30:42.15, placing 22nd overall. He was the first Hornet to cross the finish line, leading Alabama State to a 5th place finish.
Both the men's and women's teams will travel to Clinton, Mississippi to compete in the SWAC Cross Country Championshps on Monday, October 31st.
