NORMAL, Ala. - For the second straight year Alabama A&M bowler Addileen Pointer was named to the 2011 USA Junior National Bowling Team.

On the first day of the 2011 United States Bowling Congress Junior Gold Championships in Las Vegas, Nevada, Pointer was in 101st place. Over the next four days the senior climbed the standings and moved into the seventh spot out of 578 bowlers. In the championship match the All-American threw three straight strikes and jumped two spots ahead to finish in the 7th hole and earn her role on the 2011 squad.

“I’m real proud of the way she kept her composure after the first day of competition. She could have gave up but she didn’t which is something I always teach,” head coach Jeff McCorvey stated. “Addileen is a great player and she has tremendous skill.”

Pointer and the rest of her Lady Bulldogs squad will be looking for another SWAC championship when the Alabama A&M University fall 2011 bowling schedule begins in November.
