DeCarlo, Walker Headline All-SWAC Bowling Teams
With all the scores from the two SWAC round-ups tallied and confirmed the All-SWAC teams and superlative awards have been selected.
After leading the pack with a 205.3 average, senior Melanie DeCarlo from Alabama A&M has earned Bowler of the Year honors. The Peru, Ill. native led the 20th-ranked Lady Bulldogs to the East Division title. She had 4722 pins in 23 games, with a high game of 236.
Danielle Walker of Alabama State was the top freshman bowler, earning her Freshman of the Year honors. The Keller, Texas native finished the round-ups with an average of 190.2. She rolled in all 28 games and had a high score of 247. Her total pinfall of 5328 was second best in the round-ups. Her 247 game was also the fourth highest and she finished third in scoring average.
Both DeCarlo and Walker were first teamers. Addileen Pointer of Alabama A&M joined her teammate on the first team, as did Shannon Pearson of Southern and Cynthia Veney of Prairie View.
Brianna Wells of Alabama State led the All-SWAC second team. She was joined by Camille Collins of Alabama A&M, Lejewlia Lewis of Prairie View and Jelesa Maryland and Brianna LeForbes of Texas Southern.
