Prairie View A&M Falls to UConn in NCAA Tourney
Bridgeport, Conn. - Top seed Connecticut (30-4) was too much for the Prairie View Lady Panthers, as the Lady Huskies rolled to a 83-47 win in the opening round of the NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Tournament. The SWAC tournament champions ended the season 17-16.
Latia Williams led PVAM with 20 points. She was 9-for-17 from the field and 2-for-4 from the freethrow line. Williams also had five rebounds, three assists, two steals and a blocked shot.
JaQuandria Williams added nine points on three 3-pointers, while Kiara Etienne chipped in eight points.
The Huskies led the entire game, scoring the first five points and cruising to a 46-32 halftime lead. PVAM managed just 15 points in the second half, shooting just 21 percent from the field. The Lady Panthers were 5-for-23 in the final 20 minutes and 19-for-54 in the game.
