PV Wins Pitcher's Duel to Advance at SWAC Tourney

BATON ROUGE, La. - Stef Hernandez tossed a 4-hit shutout for Prairie View as the Panthers defeated Jackson State 2-0 in the winner's bracket of the 2012 SWAC Baseball Tournament.
Runs were a premium in the matchup between Hernandez and the SWAC Pitcher of the Year, JSU's Quintavious Drains.
Dominiq Harris was 2 for 3 and drove in a run for the Panthers. Evan Richard drove in the only other run of the game for Prairie View.
Hernandez struck out 5 and gave a single walk. Drains worked 8.0 innings and gave up just 4 hits. He struck out 7 and walked 4.
Prairie View moves ahead to Friday's 6:00 p.m. game vs. the winner of Jackson State and Texas Southern. The JSU / TSU game is Friday at noon.
