BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Alabama A&M volleyball team's season came to an end this afternoon after No. 11 seeded University of Tennessee (25-6) defeated the Lady Bulldogs, 3-0 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
A&M (16-11) jumped on UT early in the third set with a 3-1 lead, but the Lady Vols bounced back to take that set and match with ease. At the end of the final game the Volunteers had defeated A&M 25-11, 25-19, and 25-16.
Clarissa Moore led the Maroon and White with eight kills, while Amie Goodwin posted seven kills. Ashley Foreman collected 12 assists in the match.
The Lady Vols out hit A&M, 50 to 27 in the match - including putting down kills at a .466 clip. Tennessee advances to the second round where they will take on the winner of the Indiana/Miami match.
For the Lady Vols, six different players recorded kills. Dee Dee Harrison led UT with 13 kills, as teammates Kayla Jeter and Nikki Fowler each staked 11 kills, respectively.
