Streaking Lady Tigers Sweep Weekly Honors
As the Jackson State winning streak continues to grow, Lady Tiger players hold on to weekly SWAC volleyball honors as Latoya Clark, Paige Williams and Christine Edwards make it a Big Blue sweep.
While the JSU Lady Tigers are on their 15-game win streak, Clark earned Offensive Player of the Week honors by leading her team to 3-0 sweeps of both Mississippi Valley and Belhaven University this week. Clark collected her fifth double-double of the season , earning 35 assists, 10 digs, four kills with no errors, She also and two service aces against Belhaven and another 27 assists, four digs and service ace versus Mississippi Valley.
Williams was the top defender, blocking seven attacks (4BS, 3BA), averaging 1.13 blocks per set, just short of her top of the conference average of 1.26 blocks per set. Williams had three solo blocks, four service aces and two digs in the sweep of Belhaven. In addition, she collected another four blocks versus MVSU.
Repeating as Newcomer of the Week, Edwards posted 37 kills, eight digs, four blocks, and three service aces for the Lady Tigers. Edwards logged 17 kills and hit .483 versus Mississippi Valley, while also earning four blocks (1BS, 3BA), three digs and one service ace. Edwards averaged 6.67 kills per set versus Belhaven University with a total of 20 kills, more than any other player in the match.
