GRAMBLING, La. - Grambling State Head Tennis Coach Kenneth Myers is proud to announce the signing of Georgina Stephenson for the 2011-12 season.
The Fort Worth, Texas native comes to Grambling as a member of the #2-ranked JUCO program in the country, Lee College. While at JUCO Nationals last year, she helped Lee finish second in the country with a quarterfinal showing in Flight 6 singles and semifinal finish in Flight 3 doubles, one win away from gaining All-America status. This year, Stephenson has played as high as #3 singles and #2 doubles with several wins over D1 schools. Lee will be contesting for the title again at Nationals later this month.
“She's one of the top JUCO players coming out this year, and I'm looking forward to using her experience to help the young team from last year to continue to move forward,” said Myers. “Her strength at singles play, as well as doubles, will play an integral role in helping us to contend for the conference championship and bring it back home.”
