Feb. 4, 2011

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Alabama State University (ASU) opened the 2011 season against Jacksonville State University (JSU) and the results were not what the Hornets and Lady Hornets were looking for to start the 2011 season.

The men lost to the Gamecocks 7-0 as ASU (0-1) was able to pick up a doubles win with Lex Pierre and Roddrick Ivory picking up an 8-5 win at three doubles.

JSU (1-0) was able to pull out all six singles matches in straight set victories.

The Lady Hornets (0-1) went into the match one person down, so they were already in the hole 2-0 before the match started.

JSU (1-0) went on to win the match 7-0, with all six singles matches coming in straight sets wins.

The Hornets and Lady Hornets will be back in action Tuesday, Feb. 8, when they host Stillman College at the Olean Black Underwood Tennis Center at 3 p.m.
