Talent, Experience Throughout the Men's Golf Field
Seven of last year's top 10 finishers return to build a deep, talented, and experienced field at the 2012 SWAC Men's Golf Championships, which begin Monday at Oak Wing Golf Club in Alexandria, La.
Two players who held a tie for the individual lead standing on the final tee in 2011, but dropped shots to par and a chance to take home medalist honors, return in Texas Southern's Dominique Worthen and Alabama State's John Montgomery. Worthen was runner-up medalist, while Montgomery was third in 2011.
Plus, the 2011 tournament leader after the first two rounds, Jackson State's Clay Myers, is also back to battle for an individual title in 2012. Myers finished fourth a year ago. JSU also returns Maurice Jeffries, who was sixth a year ago.
Alabama State's Scott Benson, Arkansas-Pine Bluff's Gregory Robinson, and Prairie View A&M's Michael Bradham all also earned all-SWAC honors with top 10 finishes a year ago.
Play begins Monday at 8:00 a.m. and continues both Tuesday and Wednesday in the 54-hole event for the men's teams.
