Lopez and Lorenz Garner Weekly Softball Honors
Prairie View A&M freshman Shontel Lopez and Mississippi Valley State junior Alicia Lorenz are the SWAC softball Player and Pitcher of the Week respectively.
Lorenz finished the week with a 2-0 record and an ERA of 1.17. She surrendered two runs in 12 innings of work in wins as MVSU moved into a tie for first place with a sweep of Alabama A&M. Lorenz scattered eight hits, while striking out 18 batters, including 10 against the Lady Bulldogs on April 7.
Lopez went 8-for-18 with seven RBIs. She a home run, two doubles, and a stolen base. Lopez also scored four runs. She had 13 total bases and had a slugging percentage of .722. In addition, Lopez had an on-base percentage of .444. One defense, Lopez had four assists from behind the plate as PVAM went 5-0 on the week.
