Texas Southern 5, Concordia 0


HOUSTON, Texas – Four goals in the first half, and a hat trick by Paige Hayward was enough to lift Texas Southern past Concordia, 5-0 for its first win of the 2017 season on Thursday.

The Lady Tigers jumped out to an early lead.  Hayward scored her first goal of the season in the 10 minute mark to make the score 1-0.

Texas Southern added another goal, this time by Lamauriel Johnson in the 25th minute to give the Tigers the two-goal advantage.

Hayward added her second goal of the contest in the 37th minute to make the score 3-0.

Kelly Sanders scored in the 44th minute, to give the Lady Tigers a 4-0 lead, which would be the score at halftime.

Texas Southern scored its 5th goal early in the second half.  Hayward scored on a penalty kick to complete the hat trick and make the score 5-0, which would stand as the final.

Hayward added an assist to go along with her hat trick for seven points to pace the Lady Tigers in the win.
