SWAC Soccer Tournament Set to Begin Thursday
Arkansas-Pine Bluff and Jackson State are the top seeds heading into the 2011 SWAC Soccer Tournament, which begins Thursday in Alexandria, La. Jackson State is the defending champion.
The Golden Lions rolled through the Western Division to capture the top seed and will face Alabama State in the tourney's opening game at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday. The Hornets are the #4 seed in the Eastern Division.
On the same side of the eight-team bracket is the matchup between the West's #3 seed, Southern, and the East's #2, Alcorn State. The Jaguars and Braves will face off at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday.
Jackson State is the top seed from the Eastern Division and will face West #4 Prairie View A&M at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday.
The final quarterfinal match pits East #2 Mississippi Valley State against West #3 Texas Southern at 6:00 p.m.
The semifinals are set for Friday at 3:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m., and the finals are Sunday at 12:00 p.m. All games will be played at the Johnny Downs Soccer Center in Alexandria.
