Outdoor Track and Field Recaps: April 13-14
Tiger Track Classic (Auburn University)
AUBURN, Ala. - Alabama State finished the Tiger Track Classic with several top 10 finishes at the Hutsell-Rosen Track on the Auburn campus.
Charminique Hackney highlighted the day on the women’s side, finishing third in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.46 second – setting a new PR and beating her old time of 11.75. She finished ahead of teammates Nia Jack (11.77 seconds) and Desiree Horn (11.81 seconds).
Shamaria Lovett finished seventh with a time of 13.76 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles. In the 400-meter hurdles, Lovett finished second with a time of 59.73 seconds, setting a new PR in the event. In distance competition, Arion Span finished sixth in the 1500-meters with a time of 4:39.42. Sade Lavallias finished ninth in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 11:59.34. Desiree Horn finished ninth in the long jump with a distance of 5.84 meters (19-02.00).
The 4x100-meter relay team finished second in the event with a time of 44.85 seconds to set a new top time in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC), while the 4x400-meter relay team finished second with a time of 3:43.85.
On the men’s side, Josh Davis led the men with a fourth place finish in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.30 seconds that set a new time in the SWAC. Norris Spike finished seventh in the event with time of 10.45 seconds and Davis East a time of 10.50 seconds. He also finished the 200-meters in a time of 21.36 seconds. The 4x100-meter relay team finished second with a time of 40.18 seconds.
Caesar Kemp finished fourth in the shot put with a distance of 16.18 meters (53-01.00). Meanwhile, Jamie Brown finished tied for third in the long jump with a distance of 7.54 meters (24-09.00).
Chaaka Trahan finished fourth overall in the decathlon with 5,566 points for the Hornets.

Warhawk Invitational (ULM)
MONROE, La. - Three Lady Braves won their respective events Saturday as the Alcorn State University men's and women's track teams competed at the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawk Classic, held at Brown Stadium.
Euricka Hardy won the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.95, Jessica Ransom was first in the 400-meter dash in 55.56, and Angelica Jacobs turned in a 2:20.24 to clinch the 800-meter run. DeKari Courtney ran a 1:04.57 to secure third in the 400-meter hurdles.
For the Braves, Lane Ross crossed the finish line in 55.83 to grab third in the men's 400-meter hurdles. Kemar Cumberbatch posted a 10.77 in the 100-meter dash and Aaron Worrell ran a 15.48 in the 110-meter hurdles as the pair both finished fourth in their events. Peterson Saint-Cyrin took fifth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:01.12.
In the field events, Worrell leapt 1.98-meters (6-06.00 feet) to earn second in the men's high jump.
Grambling State was also in action, and the Lady Tigers had a handful of top-5 finishes during competition.
On the women's side, Halima Chepkwony placed second in the 1500m at 4:52.87, while Naomi Kiprop registered a fourth-place finish, at 4:58.80. In the 3000m, Kiprop claimed fifth, with a time of 10:59.72. Daneisha Curry captured fifth in the 200m, with a time of 25.80. The 4x400 relay team of Daneisha Curry, Marrisa Stove, Azah Cummins and Jeunice Maxime’ took second at 4:42.09.
In the field events, Furqani Al-Amin finished fourth in the hammer throw, with a toss of 46.19m. Aneisha Bell claimed fifth in the shot put at 12.70m.
On the men's side, Wesley Love finished third in the 400m, with a time of 49.85. Lachavius Chimes also placed third in the 200m, coming in at 21.98.

Joe Walker Invitational (Ole Miss)
Jackson State (Men only)
OXFORD, Miss. - Reigning SWAC Men's Track Athlete of the Week Azariah Foster picked up a pair of wins for Jackson State as he won the 110-meter hurdles and the 400-meter hurdles at the Joe Walker Invitational hosted by Ole Miss this past weekend.
Foster won the 110H with a time of 14.05 seconds. He finished the 400H in 52.55 seconds. Teammate Justin Thomas finished second in the 100m dash (10.55) and 200m dash (21.33), setting a new personal best mark in the latter. Jailen Bell was third in the 100m (10.68) and 200m (21.57).
Arkansas-Pine Bluff's Laural Heath clocked a 1:50.01 time in the 800m run to pick up second place. Rasheed McAlpin finished behind Foster in the 400H with a time of 52.62.
Jackson State's 4x100 relay team was second with a time of 40.53 seconds, and UAPB's 4x400m relay squad took fourth (3:21.48).
In field events, Eddie Parish of Jackson State finished third in the high jump (1.95m). Jauvany Hyde took second in the triple jump (14.68m) and third in the long jump (7.17m).
On the women's side, UAPB's Jennifer Watt was fifth in the 100m dash with a 12.45-second time. Tiler Tyler was sixth in the 800m run with a time of 2:19.92. Arjai Johnson took third in the 100m hurdles (15.30), and the Lady Lions' 4x400m relay team won with a time of 4:02.44.
Cedreahna Kennedy finished third in the heptathlon with 4256 points.
Strawberry Relays (Southeastern Louisiana)
HAMMOND, La. - Paced by Terralicia Mercadel's winning effort in the women's 400m dash (55.63), Southern picked up several top-5 finishes during the Southeastern Strawberry Relays hosted by Southeastern Louisiana this past weekend.
On the women's side, Nia Williams finished second in the 100m dash (11.85), winning her section. Mercadel (24.34) took third in the 200m dash, with teammate Camryn Hawkins finishing fourth (24.43).
Raelynn Price was second in the 800m run (2:21.70), and Tessa Toney was third in the 400m hurdles (1:04.61). The Lady Jaguars' 4x100m relay team was second with a time of 46.72 seconds. In field events, Vashti Hannah (5.80m) took second in the long jump. Alexandria McCoy cleared 11.59m in the shot put for a third-place result.
Jamira Russ (42.29m) took third in the discus throw, and Faith Estelle was third in the hammer throw with a distance of 53.13m.
On the men's side, Artis McCoy (49.05) and Amari Tatum-Calvillo (49.53) finished fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 400m dash. Issac Brown earned fourth place in the 800m run (1:56.91).
Abraham Kiprop (16:37.10) and Nickson Kipleting Muhindi (17:06.47) each took top-5 placings in the 5000m run.
In field events, Wallace Smith finished third in the long jump (6.70m), just ahead of teammate Tyrese Chambers (6.55m). Jeremy Bass (13.13m) and Charles Clark (12.58m) were fourth and fifth in the shot put, respectively.
Clark (41.25m) finished second in the discus throw, with Bass (40.03m) fourth and London Lewis (38.88m) fifth. Bass finished fourth in the hammer throw with a distance of 47.06m, and Clark was fifth (43.18m).
