MBB: Bruce named SWAC Player of the Week
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) has recognized Texas Southern’s Derrick Bruce as the SWAC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for his outstanding performance during week 16 of the regular season.
This is the second time that Bruce has captured the award this season as he won the award back on January 2.

Bruce had career nights over the weekend posting career highs in points scored on Saturday versus Alabama A&M (35 points) and Monday against Alabama State (37 points).
He helped lead TSU to wins in both games and also averaged six rebounds, two assists, and one steal over the past two league games.
In conference only games, Bruce ranks fifth in scoring with 19.1 points per game and is ranked second in free throw percentage as he has knocked down 85.7 percent of his shots (42-of-49) from the charity stripe. Additionally, he’s shooting 42.4 % from 3-point ranged, good for second in the SWAC, and is ranked first in 3-pointer made per game (3.8).
