MBB: Jefferson named SWAC Player of the Week
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) has recognized Texas Southern’s Demontrae Jefferson as the SWAC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for his outstanding performance during week six of the regular season.

Jefferson has been scoring at an extremely high level for Texas Southern as he averaged 28 points per game this past week to go along with three assists and 1.5 steals. He scored game highs of 27 points at Wyoming on Saturday and 29 points at No. 15 TCU on Monday.
The sophomore guard shot at an efficient clip as well by making a combined 21-of-42 field goals (50 percent) including 10-of-20 from 3-point range (50 percent) and 4-of-5 from the free throw line (80 percent).
The Jefferson-lead Tigers put each of their opponents on upset watch as well as Texas Southern lead at Wyoming by five points at halftime and trailed at #15 TCU by just two points at the break.
He is the only player in the SWAC to average 20 plus points per game thus far this season and leads all individuals with 23.4 points per contest.
