MT: Hornets season ends at Florida State
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Alabama State fell to 11th-seeded Florida State 4-0 at the Scott Speicher Tennis Center in the opening round of the NCAA Regionals Friday evening.
Florida State claimed the doubles point with wins at number one and two, with Aziz Dougaz and Lucas Poullain claiming a 6-1 victory over Alabama State’s Andrej Trajkovski and Alexis Collard. The 60th-ranked team of Guy Iradukunda and Alex Knaff claimed a 6-3 victory over Alabama State’s Tomas Fernandez and Carl-Louis Luckmann at number two doubles.
In singles play, the Seminoles jumped ahead 2-0 overall when 25th-ranked Dougaz defeated Luckmann 6-0, 6-1; before 44th-ranked Iradukuna defeated Alabama State’s Fernandez 6-0, 6-2. The match was clinched when 34th-ranked Lucas Poullian defeated Collard 6-0, 6-2.
Alabama State (11-10) finished the season with their second regular season and conference tournament championship.
