SWAC moves onto 'Ship bracket of Dos Equis tourney

SAN ANTONIO, TX – Eight Division I college basketball conferences have advanced to the Championship Bracket of the inaugural Dos Equis 3X3U National Championship after 48 games of pool play action over Friday and Saturday at St. Mary’s University’s Bill Greehey Arena in San Antonio.


The America East Conference, Big Ten Conference, Big West Conference, Ivy League, Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference, Southeastern Conference, Southwestern Athletic Conference and the West Coast Conference, each comprised of four seniors that have exhausted their collegiate eligibility, will compete on Sunday, April 1 for a $50,000 championship prize and the Dos Equis 3X3U National Championship title live on ESPN2.


The four players who are representing the SWAC are Alcorn State’s A.J. Mosby, Jackson State’s Paris Collins, Texas Southern’s Donte Clark, and Southern’s Jared Sam. 


Quarterfinal coverage begins on Sunday, April 1 at 12:35 p.m. CT live on the @3X3UHoops Twitter account and continues with semifinal and championship coverage live on ESPN2 from 2:30-4:30 p.m. CT.


The Championship Bracket schedule is as follows:




12:35 p.m.           SWAC vs. America East

12:55 p.m.           SEC vs. Big Ten

1:15 p.m.             MEAC vs. West Coast    

1:35 p.m.             Big West vs. Ivy League




2:40 p.m.             G1 – W Game 1 vs. W Game 2                   

3:00 p.m.             G2 – W Game 3 vs. W Game 4


3rd Place             

3:35 p.m.             L – Semi 1 vs. L Semi 2



4:05 p.m.             W – Semi 1 vs. W Semi 2


Every game has mattered in the Dos Equis 3X3U National Championship as money has been on the line at all times throughout the competition. Participants have received a total of $48,000 to date ($1,000 for each win). The remaining prize pool will be distributed on Sunday as follows:

  • A quarterfinal win will earn the team $1,000.
  • A semifinal win will earn the team $1,000.
  • The team that wins the third-place game will earn $1,000.
  • The team that wins the championship will earn $50,000.
