Baseball Players of the Week: March 5

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Rafiel Ramierz of Grambling State and Gage Dollar, of Alabama State have been named the Southwestern Athletic Conference baseball hitter and pitcher of the week for their performances over the past week of competition.

Hitter of the Week

Rafael Ramirez (Grambing State) 

1B - 5-9 - So. - San Antonio, Texas

Ramirez batted .571, slugged 1.214 and had an on-base percentage of .625 in four games last week. He went 8-for-14, with eight hits, including a pair of home runs. Also, he drove in five and scored five times. He went 3-for-4 in the SWAC series opener over Prairie View A&M on March 2, with three RBIs and two runs scored  

Pitcher of the Week

Gage Dollar (Alabama State)

P - 6-1 - Fr. - Smith Station, Ala.

Dollar pitched his first career no-hitter at any level in game three of the Alcorn State series, in a 12-0 run-rule victory. The freshman went all seven innings, allowing just four hitters to reach base – two walks, one hit by pitch and one fielding error. Dollar also struck out six in just his second career collegiate start.
