• The SWAC Digital Network has another broadcast coming as Alabama State will host Prairie View on Jan. 27. Tip-off is set for 3 PM and the men's game will follow at 5 PM. Both contests will be streamed through SDN.

• The Southern Jaguars have taken over sole possession of first-place in the standings this season thanks to a six-game win streak. However, runs of success are fairly common for Sandy Pugh's group. This is the sixth-straight season where Southern has put together a run of five or more consecutive wins. This year's current streak is the third-longest over that time span.

• As Texas Southern's Joyce Kennerson continues to grab national headlines as the nation's leading scoer (25.2 PPG), she has an interesting test this weekend as TSU hits the road. In Alabama A&M -- against whom Kennerson managed just 11 points in the teams' meeting in Huntsville last season -- TSU is up against the league's No. 2 scoring defense. Following that, the Lady Tigers tangle with Alabama State, a team Kennerson put up 24 points against when the team clashed in Montgomery last season. Kennerson is averaging 23.2 points per game in contests away from home.

• Reigning SWAC Player of the Week Alexus Freeman of Alcorn State ranks fifth nationally in total steals (74) and fourth in steals per game (4.21).

• Alabama A&M's newcomers are paying major dividends during the team's surprising start to the season. The fresh faces of the Lady Bulldogs account for 77 percent of the team's scoring and 66.7 percent of the team's rebounding.

• Mississippi Valley State will have a tough task this weekend, as it will take on the No. 1 and No. 2 ranked scoring offenses -- when it comes to conference play -- in Jackson State and Grambling State, respectively.
