MOBILE, Ala. – Southern University defensive back Danny Johnson was named to the roster as an accepted invite for the 69th annual Reese’s Senior Bowl that will be played on Saturday, Jan. 27 at 1:30 p.m. CT at Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile, Ala.

Both the NFL Network and ESPN will televise the practices during the week and NFL Network will carry the game live on Saturday.

The game, which features the best seniors in college football by invite only, will be broadcast on the NFL Network. NFL scouts, general managers and coaches are often on hand to evaluate talent in preparing for the upcoming NFL Draft. Live stats are available at seniorbowl.com during the game.

Johnson was one of only 13 players on the rosters selected from a FCS school. The 5-foot-10, 194-pound DB was tied for second in pass break ups this past season by making 1.36 per game with 15 total (12 defended, three interceptions). And, his three interceptions were tied for third in the SWAC as he returned two of them for touchdowns with 118 return yards.

Additionally, Johnson racked up 55 total tackles, good for an average of five per game, to rank 22nd in the conference as a secondary player. He was sixth in tackles among defensive backs in the conference.

The Houston Texans, led by their fourth-year head coach Bill O'Brien, will guide the South team, while Vance Joseph, in his first year as head coach of the Denver Broncos, will guide the North.

Last year, Grambling State wide receiver Chad Williams made the most of his opportunity as a late addition to the Senior Bowl and raised his draft stock enough to be taken in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft by the Arizona Cardinals.

Players will arrive by Jan. 22 to begin practices the next day.
