BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Interim Commissioner Edgar Gantt will serve as a panelist in the Birmingham Biz Breakfast Seminar scheduled at the University of Alabama-Birmingham’s Bartow Arena on Thursday, Jan. 25 from 7:30 a.m. until 9 a.m. in the UAB Green and White room.

The lively and informative panel will discuss the business of sports in the greater Birmingham region.  Representatives will include intercollegiate, amateur and professional sports organizations leading the conversation and answering important questions.

Panelists include Mark Ingram, Athletic Director at UAB, Jonathan Nelson, General Manager of the Birmingham Barons, Edgar Gantt, Interim Commissioner of the SWAC, Morgan T. Copes, Vice President of USL Birmingham and John Coppins, USGA Manager for the US Women's Open.

“What we're trying to do with our breakfast seminar series is to engage the business community with lively discussions on relevant community issues,” said Mark Singletary, General Manager and organizer of BHM Biz.

“We know that Birmingham is a great sports city and the opportunity to engage with these decision makers in the sports' business is compelling. This is a big economic engine and we want to recognize as many elements of the sports industry as we can.

We have representatives from both professional and amateur sports, some veterans and some newcomers to the scene.  Our panelists are business leaders and sports executives and that's why we are so excited about the event.”
