MBB: UAPB's McKnight named SWAC Player of the Week
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) has recognized Arkansas-Pine Bluff’s Martaveous McKnight as the SWAC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for his outstanding performance during week nine of the regular season.

McKnight averaged 26.5 points per game including a game-high 29 points on 10-of-18 shooting from the field and made 6-of-9 free throws in a 69-62 road victory over Alabama A&M this past Saturday. The junior guard also had six boards, five steals and two assists and hit 3-of-5 three-pointers.
McKnight followed up that performance with another big scoring effort as the Walls, MS native scored 24 points on 8-of-13 shooting from the field, 3-of-5 from the free throw line, and 5-of-5 from 3-point range in a 94-68 road conference victory at Alabama State on Monday. He added nine assists and three steals.
McKnight ranks second in the conference in points per game with 18.4 per contest, is sixth in the SWAC in field goal percentage (.451), eighth in free throw percentage (.778), sixth in steals per game (1.4), sixth in 3-point percentage (.402), fourth in 3-pointers made per game (2.3), fifth in minutes played per game (32.3) and is tied for 11th in assists per game (2.3).
UAPB has started 3-0 in conference play for a second consecutive season.
