BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Grambling State guard Shakyla Hill has been named the Southwestern Athletic Conference's Women's Basketball Player of the Week for her exceptional performance during games played from Jan. 3-8.

Women's Basketball Player of the Week - Shakyla Hill, Grambling State
G | 5-7 | Jr. | Little Rock, Ark.

Hill grabbed national headlines after she became the fourth player in NCAA division I women's basketball history to record a quadruple-double. The junior recorded 15 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists and 10 steals in Grambling's 93-71 victory over Alabama State on Jan. 3. From there, Hill posted a double-double with 18 points, 12 rebounds and seven steals in Grambling's Jan. 6 loss at Southern.

The Little Rock, Ark. native concluded her week with another stat-stuffing performance, scoring 16 points while hauling in seven rebounds, dishing out six assists and making four steals in a 75-68 win at Alcorn on Jan. 8. For the three-game stretch, Hill averaged 16.3 points per game, 9.7 rebounds per game, 7.0 steals per game and 6.0 rebounds per game on 52.8 percent shooting from the floor.

Hill currently leads the SWAC in steals (5.6) and assists (5.1) per game. Her 5.6 thefts per game ranks second-best nationally. In addition, she is third in the league in rebounding (6.9), fifth in field-goal percentage (44.7) and 10th in scoring (13.2). This is the second weekly honor for Hill this season.
