BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Mississippi Valley State guard Kristy Parker has been named the Southwestern Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week following her standout efforts for the Devilettes during games played from Dec. 19-25.

Parker averaged 17.5 points per game in Mississippi Valley's last two contests versus Dayton (Dec. 21) and Michigan State (Dec. 22). Parker was a rebound shy of a double-double versus the Flyers, as she scored a game-high 17 points to go with nine rebounds, two assists and two steals. Against the Spartans, Parker netted 18 points on 7-of-13 shooting, adding three assists and two rebounds.

The junior shot 50 percent from three-point land and averaged 38.5 minutes played over the contests. On the year, the Indianola, Miss. native is averaging a team-best 15.6 points per game, a number that ranks her fifth in the SWAC in scoring.
