MBB: Smith Jr. named SWAC Player of the Week

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) has recognized Grambling State’s Ivy Smith Jr. as the SWAC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for his outstanding performance during week four of the regular season.

In two games, Smith averaged 22.5 points, 9.5 assists, 4.0 rebounds, 3.0 steals and 0.5 blocks per game. He shot 42.9 percent (12-of-28) from the floor and 86.4 percent (19-of-22) from the foul line. Smith poured in a career-high 31 points and dished out a career-high 13 assists in a 111-95 win over Tougaloo.  The junior also had 14 points and six assists in Grambling State’s 64-63 road victory against Georgia Tech this past Friday.
