• Jackson State improved to 4-1 on the season with a 77-50 blowout win over Spring Hill. This is the best start through five games for the Lady Tigers under the guidance of coach Surina Dixon. The Lady Tigers started 3-2 in each of the past two seasons.

• Alabama A&M has already surpassed its win total from last season, during which the Lady Bulldogs compiled a 2-25 record.

• Alcorn State guards Tia Sanders and Alexus Freeman have been terrors against opposing offenses so far this season. Both rank in the top 5 in scoring among SWAC players, and Alcorn State is the only team with said distinction. Sanders and Freeman are averaging a combined 39 points per game, with Sanders at 21.2 points a night (3rd) and Freeman at 17.8 points per game (4th).

• Reigining SWAC Player of the Week and Texas Southern guard Joyce Kennerson is rocketing up the all-time scoring ranks for the Lady Tigers. After starting last week ranked 16th in TSU history in scoring, Kennerson has climbed to 9th all-time. She currently leads the league in scoring at 22.0 PPG.

• The SWAC is about to get very familiar with SEC opposition, as Alabama State faces #12 Tennessee on Dec. 3, Southern plays at Auburn on Dec. 9. and, Grambling State will take on Alabama on Dec. 10.
