Soccer Players of the Week: October 24
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Ariela Lewis of Alabama State, and Kendall Hamilton and Gabrielle Emillen, both of Howard have been named the Southwestern Athletic Conference soccer players of the week for their performances this past week.
Offensive Player of the Week
Ariela Lewis - Alabama State
F I 5-4 I R-Sr. I Anchorage, Alaska
After missing the Lady Hornets contest against Jackson State, Lewis returned with a career performance against Southern in her only game of the week. The senior scored four goals against Southern in an 8-1 Lady Hornets victory. Lewis scored four goals on four shots on goal, nine total shots. She added an assists to finish the day with nine points. The senior added to her career total – giving her 62 which leads all active players in NCAA Division I (she also leads in points).
Defensive Player of the Week
Kendall Hamilton – Howard
D I 5-9 I Jr. I Surrey, Raleigh, N.C.
Hamilton played all 180 minutes this weekend and led a back line that allowed just one goal to PVAM in a tie on Sunday and shutout Texas Southern on Friday,
Goalkeeper of the Week
Gabrielle Emilien – Howard
GK I 6-0 I Sr. I Toronto, Canada
Emilien shutout Texas Southern on Friday and allowed just one goal to PVAM in a 1-1 tie on Sunday.
