ALST's Cage Cox Named NCBWA Second Team All-American

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Alabama State University freshman Cage Cox earned another postseason honor on Monday as he was selected to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) All-American Second Team.
 
Cox, who was named the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Freshman of the Year and was named to the Collegiate Baseball Freshmen All-American Team, led the team in four categories: batting average (.350), runs scored (53) and hits (75). He registered 17 doubles (tied for first), seven home runs and two triples. Cox, who belted a school record three homers in a 16-4 win over Grambling State, drove in 45 and scored 53 times.
 
The Cairo (Ga.) native was a two-time SWAC Hitter of the Week selection and ranked fifth in the SWAC in batting, first in doubles and second in doubles per game.
