Jackson State falls to #6 TCU in NCAAs

FORT WORTH, Texas – The Jackson State men's tennis team fell to No. 6 TCU as the Horned Frogs picked up their 20th win of the season with a 4-0 victory in the opening round of the 2017 NCAA Division I Men's Tennis Championship on Friday afternoon at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center in Fort Worth.

The Horned Frogs (20-4) won the  doubles point against the Tigers (8-21) as the pairs of Cameron Norrie and Trevor Johnson beat F. Mendeita Ruiz/Andrey Alawi 6-1 and Guillermo Nuñez and Gianni Mancini also won 6-1 against Stylianos Gkontsaris/Vishu Prasad for the doubles point.

In singles play, No. 20 Alex Rybakov put point No. 2 on the board for the Frogs with a 6-1, 6-0 victory against Joan Sanson at the top position for his 19th straight win of the season. 

Reese Stalder got his third straight victory with a 6-2, 6-1 win on court four against F. Mendeita Ruiz, before No. 83 Nuñez finished it with a 6-1, 6-1 win on court two over Andrey Alawi.
