Baseball Players of the Week April 19

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Daniel Barnett of Grambling State and Seth Oliver of Texas Southern have been named the Southwestern Athletic Conference baseball hitter and pitcher of the week for their performances from April 11 –17. 

Hitter of the Week

Daniel Barnett (Grambling State)

Sr. | 3B | 5-11 | Camarillo, Calif

For the weekend, Barnett went 6-for-8 with seven RBI, four walks, two doubles, one home run and 27 putouts in the three-game series against Southern. In game 2, he went 3-for-3, scored three times, and walked once. He also had a home run, a double and a game-high 14 putouts.

Pitcher of the Week

Seth Oliver (Texas Southern)

Jr. | RHP | 6-4 | Nogales, Ariz

Oliver tossed a complete-game shutout for the Tigers in their 3-0 series opener against Prairie View A&M this past weekend. He scattered only four hits while striking out 11 Panthers over nine innings. TSU’s 3-0 victory was Oliver’s third complete-game of the season, and also gave him his first shutout of 2017. His 3.98 ERA and 4-3 record leads all TSU starting pitchers.
