SWAC Men's Golf Championship Day One Recap
ALEXANDRIA, La. – Alabama State took control in the first round of the Southwestern Athletic Conference men’s golf championship on Monday.
The Hornets would fire a team score of three-under-par (285), to finish the day atop the leaderboard. Texas Southern would end the day in second after shooting a team score of 15-over-par (303).
Alcorn State would round out the top three, shooting a team score of 306 in the opening round.
Prairie View A&M would finish round one in fourth place at 312, while Jackson State would finish in fifth at 324. Arkansas Pine Bluff sits in sixth with a team score of 332, and Alabama A&M would round out the team standings at 379.
Kirabo Reed of Alabama State would fire a five-under-par 67 to finish the day on top of the leaderboard on the individual side. Quincy Stith, also of Alabama State, would fire a two-under 70 to end the day in second place.
Kyle Smith of Texas Southern, and Daniel Racioppa would each finish at one-under par after rounds of 71, to finish in a tied for third.
Day two of the championship will continue tomorrow, as players will tee off beginning at 8 a.m. CT.
