Results

HOUSTON - Texas Southern's TSU Relays featured strong performances from several member schools, as Alabama State, Grambling, Prairie View and host TSU all had multiple winners.

Alabama State's women were strong in running events, as Janice Lane (4:58.27) won the 1500-meter run, Kaila Lewis won the 100-meter dash (11.71) and the 200-meter dash (24.26), and Monica Howard clocked a 13.75 to win the 100-meter hurdles. The Lady Hornets also won the 4x100m relay, and Arion Span took the 800-meter run event and the 5000-meter run.

Prairie View's Deonca Bookman won the 400-meter hurdles at a mark of 1:01.69, and Nekiesha Bailey took the women's high jump (1.69m). Keon Campbell won the men's 100-meter dash, Sunne Rodriguez-Weems won the men's pole vault, and Prairie View's men's 4x100 and 4x200 relay teams finished in second place in their respective events.

In field events, Texas Southern asserted itself as Breanca Woods (5.79m) won the women's high jump. Ahmad Francis cleared 50.96 meters in winning the men's javelin, and Ellena Torres won the women's javelin. Terrell Perry claimed victory in the men's hammer throw.

Grambling's Jonathon Sawyer won the 400-meter dash, and the Tigers went on to win the 4x400-meter relay as well on the men's side. Hassan Chepkwony won the men's 5000-meter run, which saw GSU claim each of the top three spots.

Louisiana Classics (Southern, Jackson State)

Results

LAFAYETTE, La. - Ky'Bria Spell of Jackson State won the women's hammer throw with a toss of 55.15m during the Louisiana Classic. The distance is the furthest ever achieved at the Louisiana-Lafayette Track and Field Complex.

Teammate Latoya Gilding won the women's discus throw, clearing 45.0 meters on her throw. She was also fifth in the shot put. On the men's side, JSU had several top 5 showings, with Ryan Theyard placing fourth in the triple jump, Eddie Parish was tied for third in the high jump. Vincent Langat claimed fourth in the men's 5000-meter run.

For Southern, the men's and women's 4x400-meter relay teams both finished fourth in their respective meets, and Vashti Hannah finished fifth in the triple jump and sixth in the long jump on the women's side.
