#1 Baylor 119, #16 Texas Southern 30

WACO, Texas - Texas Southern's 2016-17 season came to a halt during a 119-30 loss to top-seeded Baylor during the first round of the NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Tournament.

The Lady Tigers (23-10) started the contest frigid from the floor, missing 18 of their first 20 shots en route to a 34-5 deficit at the end of one. The Lady Bears' (31-3) advantage only grew from there as TSU could not get on track offensively. Texas Southern shot 8-of-58 from the floor (13.8 percent) compared to Baylor's 63.2 percent clip (48-of-76).

Texas Southern was outrebounded 60-19. Joyce Kennerson led TSU with 19 points and three assists, but was 4-of-19 from the field. Kaitlyn Palmer added eight points.

Beatrice Mompremier led Baylor with 23 points and 11 rebounds as all of Baylor's players scored in the game.
