Cross Country Athletes of the Week: Oct. 11
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Grambling State’s Hassan Chepkwony and Alcorn State’s Angelica Jacobs took home Southwestern Athletic Conference runner of the week honors after their performances in competition on Oct. 8.
Men’s Runner of the Week – Chepkwony

The 2015 SWAC Men’s Runner of the Year earned his first weekly honor of the season after he finished second at the Lois Davis Invitational hosted by Southern Arkansas. Chepkwony posted a time of 26:10 in the men's 8K, leading Grambling to a second-place standing in team competition. Chepkwony has finished no worse than seventh individually in each race he has taken part in this season.
Women’s Runner of the Week – Jacobs

Jacobs repeated as women’s runner of the week after she finished in third place Friday at the Watson Ford Invite at Choctaw Trails, hosted by Mississippi College. Her 26:06.62 mark in the 6K led the Lady Braves to a second-place team finish among Division I schools, ahead of Southern, Jackson State, Nicholls State and New Orleans. Jacobs has been Alcorn's top finisher at every meet this season. It was the longest race of the season for the Lady Braves as they previously competed in 5K meets. Jacobs is the first Lady Brave to win multiple weekly honors in a single season since Condrea Collins in 2012.
