BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Alcorn State’s Angelica Jacobs and Qaseem Wajd took home Southwestern Athletic Conference runner of the week honors after their performances in competition on Oct. 1
Men’s Runner of the Week – Wajd

Wajd posted a top-40 showing of 18:39.6 in the 5K at the McNeese Cowboy Stampede while competing against the likes of McNeese State, Texas Southern, Southern, Southeastern Louisiana, Grambling State and Northwestern State. For the freshman, it marked a season-best as the time broke a mark of 18:53.98, previously set Sept. 17 at LSU. This marks the first time since Sept. 2014 that an Alcorn men's runner has claimed the weekly honor.
Women’s Runner of the Week – Jacobs

Jacobs continued to set the pace for the Lady Braves, as she ran a season-best 5K time of 21:05.7 at the McNeese Cowboy Stampede. She finished in 13th-place overall and along the way, tied her previous season-best mark, which was set Sept. 17 at the LSU Invitational. She has clocked in as Alcorn's top finisher at all three meets this season. Prior to Jacobs, the last Lady Brave to win the women's runner of the week honor was Condrea Collins, who won in consecutive weeks during Oct. 2012.
