LAKE CHARLES, La. -- The Texas Southern women's team took second and Grambling's men took second during the McNeese XC Cowboy Stampede on Saturday.

Hassan Chepkwony (15:46.9) finished fifth overall to lead Grambling State in the men's 5K. Noah Rugut (16:29.1;10th) and Aaron Koech (16:40.4; 15th) also ran well for the Tigers. Southern's Keshaun Javois (17:25.2) finished just outside of the top 25, and Alcorn State's top finish was courtesy of Oaseem Wajd (18:39.6).

On the women's side, GSU's Halima Chepkwony finished sixth overall in the women's 5K with a time of 20:05.7. Texas Southern's Marlyn Campa (20:21.8) and Mariah Stewart (20:31) finished ninth and 11th, respectively. Alcorn State's Angelica Jacobs (21:05.7) and Dynasty Williams (21:24.5) also earned top 15 finishes.

Southern, who finished third overall in team standings, was led by Janae Simoneaux (20:40.9), who finished 12th. Teammate Danae Colston (21:30.7) was 16th.
