Florida A&M 27, Mississippi Valley State 10
ORLANDO, Fla. -- Mississippi Valley State University fell behind early in suffering a 27-10 lose to Florida A&M in the 9th Annual MEAC/SWAC Challenge presented by Disney at the Florida Citrus Bowl.

MVSU (0-1) struggled early as quarterbacks Patrick Ivy and Jeremy Collins combined to throw three interceptions and were held to 88 yards passing. Ivy ran for 74 yards, including a 64-run.

The Delta Devils closed the lead, 20-10, after Collins scored on a two-yard sneak with 10:21 remaining in the fourth quarter.

Jeremy Johnson was named MVSU's Callenge MVP after leading the defense with 13 tackles. Richard Drake paced the Delta Devils with three catches for 32 yards.

The Rattlers (1-0) of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference took a 20-0 lead into halftime behind touchdown runs from Fleming and Albert and two short field goals by Chase Varnadore.

Damien Fleming, Omari Albert and Al-Terek McBurse ran for touchdowns. 
Fleming passed for 110 yards and ran for 38, before leaving in the third quarter because of leg cramps. He did not return.

McBurse was named FAMU's Challenge MVP after rushing for 55 yards on six carries for 9.2 yards.Lenworth Lennon hauled in four receptions for 85 yards. 
Michael Ducre topped the Rattlers on defense with eight tackles. Patrick Aiken, Darren Parker and John Ojo had interceptions for Florida A&M.

The SWAC falls to 2-7 all time against the MEAC in the Challenge.
