BRONX, N.Y. - Southern University dropped a 56-44 decision to Fordham inside the Rose Hill Gym on Monday night.

Lechell Rush shot 6-of-11 for 13 points while hauling in a team high of eight rebounds. Kendra Coleman added 10 points to help SU shot 34.5 percent from the floor.

The Lady Jaguars (0-8) trailed early as the Rams (6-4) scored the game's first 10 points over a two and half minute span. Fordham nailed five out of its first six attempts from the floor.

Southern worked its way back into the game, outscoring Fordham 16-9 over the next 14 minutes, but the Rams regained their shooting touch just before the intermission. Fordham used a 6-0 run to close out the first stanza with a 25-16 lead.

In the start of the second half, Southern chopped the lead down to two with just under 13 minutes to go.

The Rams responded with an 11-0 run to stretch the lead, 44-31, with 10:14 left of the clock and held on for the win.

Samantha Clark led Fordham with her first career double-double. She finished with 15 points and 13 rebounds hitting 7-of-14. Erin Rooney scored a game high, 22 points, connecting 7-of-11 from the floor.

LAFAYETTE, La. - The Jackson State women's basketball team fell 68-57 to the University of Louisiana Lafayette Ragin Monday night at Earl K. Long Gym.

JSU (2-6) could not hold on to a seven-point halftime lead and was outscored 47-29 in the second half.

Dominique Brothern came off the bench to lead the Lady Tigers in scoring with 14 points on 5-of-7 shooting. Tiffany Kelly added 10 points and five rebounds in 27 minutes of action.

Neither team shot the ball well in the first half. JSU connected on 8-27 field goal attempts but went 10-12 from the free throw line. ULL (4-4) made 8-39 field goal attempts and connected on 3-6 free throws.

In the second half JSU made 12-of-28 shooting 42.8 percent.

Three Ragin Cajuns scored in double digits. Keke Veal scored a team high 16 points, Sylvana Okde added 15 and Byronesha Santioago recorded a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds.
