FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Alcorn State (2-4) overcame double-digit deficit to beat Samford 69-65 in overtime at the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament on Thursday.

The Braves trailed by as much as 13 points in the first half (27-14), but closed to within four at 32-28 by halftime.

ASU took the lead early in the second half on the 3-pointer by Anthony Nieves. Nieves basket put ASU on top 36-35 with 16:22 left. The Braves outscored Samford 28-24 in the second half to force overtime with the score tied at 56-all.

In overtime, the score was tied at 61-61 with 2:12 left. LeAntwan Luckett gave the Braves the lead for good with a three-point-play with 52 seconds left.

Samford cut the lead to one at 64-61 with 33 seconds left on a basket by Clide Geffrard, Jr. But that would be as close as the Bulldogs would get as ASU outscored Samford 13-9 in overtime.

Luckett led the Braves with 24 points and seven rebounds. Anthony Evans added 17 points while Josh Nicholas finished with 10 rebounds and nine points.

Tyler Hood paced Samford with 16 points, while Raijon Kelly tallied 14 points and Tim Williams had a double-double with 10 points and 14 rebounds.
